How much is a car wash at Southtown?

A single wash starts at $9 and goes up to $20 for Ultimate with ceramic coating. Unlimited runs $25 to $45 a month, and a wash book is six washes for the price of five.

The wash menu

Five washes, numbered #1 to #5, the same way they read on the signs in our lane. Tap a wash to see what it adds and what it costs one at a time, in a book of six, or Unlimited.

  • #1Every wash starts with the attendant’s hand prep, a spot-free rinse, and air dry.
  • #2Deluxe and up add undercarriage and protectants.
  • #3Supreme and up add Rain-X and clean wheels.
  • #4Premium adds tire shine.
  • #5Ultimate adds hot wax and ceramic coating.

Each number includes everything below it.

What do the add-ons actually do?

Each add-on does one job. The tag shows the lowest wash that includes it.

Undercarriage From #2

A high-pressure spray under the car that rinses salt, mud, and road grime off the frame, suspension, and exhaust. You never see this part of the car, which is exactly why rust gets a head start there. It matters most in winter.

Clear Coat Protectant From #2

A light protective coat applied over your car's clear coat. It helps water and dirt slide off between washes and keeps the paint from looking dull. It is not a wax, but it is a good everyday layer.

Triple Foam From #2

Three colored foam conditioners that cling to the paint, loosen the film left by road spray, and prepare the surface so the protectants that follow bond better. It also looks good through the window.

Rain-X Complete Surface Protectant From #3

A water-repellent treatment for the whole exterior, glass included. Water beads up and runs off, which means clearer windows in the rain and a car that stays cleaner longer. It wears off over a few weeks, so members get it refreshed with every wash.

Wheel Brite From #3

A wheel cleaner applied directly to the wheels to break down brake dust and road grime. Regular wash soap does not cut through baked-on brake dust; this does.

Armor All Professional Tire Shine From #4

A dressing applied to the tire sidewalls for a dark, even finish. It is cosmetic, and it is what people notice first on a freshly washed car.

Carnauba Hot Wax From #5

Natural carnauba wax applied warm, so it spreads evenly and bonds to the paint. It adds depth and gloss and a layer of protection against water and sun. Wax lasts weeks, not months, which is why Ultimate members come out ahead: it is reapplied every visit.

Ceramic Coating From #5

A spray-on ceramic sealant that bonds to the paint and glass. You will notice tight water beading, a slick feel, and a brighter shine, plus protection against UV, road salt, and grime. To be clear about what it is not: it is not the multi-year coating a detailer installs by hand, and it is not scratch-proof. It is a strong, renewable layer of protection, and it is refreshed every time you wash with Ultimate.

What is a wash book?

Six washes of one tier for the price of five. Buy it online or at the cashier, then use the washes whenever you like.

  • #1 Basic 6 washes $45
  • #2 Deluxe 6 washes $60
  • #3 Supreme 6 washes $70
  • #4 Premium 6 washes $85
  • #5 Ultimate 6 washes $100
  • Buy 5, get 1 free
  • Counts washes, not dollars
  • An easy gift

Wash more than a couple of times a month? Unlimited is the better buy: one wash a day for one monthly price.

A free vacuum station at Southtown Car Wash, with the Free Vacuums sign behind it

Do you have self-serve bays and free vacuums?

Yes to both. The bays have pressure wands and take tap-to-pay and mobile pay, so you can wash the truck, the mower, or the mud off the fenders on your own time.

Self-serve bay
A few minutes on one problem spot, or something that does not belong in a tunnel.
Drive-through tunnel
Done for you, start to finish, in a few minutes.

The guys always do a good job and I try to visit anytime I am close to Effingham. I appreciate the good and friendly service and the free car vacs!
